battery increase?
Most EVO users would agree its an amazing phone, but the battery life is.. less than satisfactory. And I'm just wondering, has anyone noticed that there's a battery life increase when using the MIUI rom?

yes very much so.
In fact, I've noticed a huge jump in battery from flashing just about any ROM. The different kernels add all kinds of battery life to rooted phones.
Have you rooted your phone? Are you not running MIUI?

Yes. I get about 3x the life I used to get. 0004 Hardware, Miui 5.27 TiMat SBC 3.3.7. I've played with some of the new kernals, but 3.3.7 has been the best I have tried with battery life. If you take the jump, root, and try good ol MIUI, you won't miss the 4geez. See what kernal works for you. Godmode and Timat have been my favorites on the gingerbread MIUI.

I use 2.2.1 SavagedZen and i get solid battery life, but I am constantly turning 3G off when ever I am not using the internet. I notice high battery drain when surfing the web or using a web application, but my standby time is really solid. Maybe I should try tiamat or Godmode... but I think it's a general consensus with any ROM that when you have very high usage (constant 3G use) you might only last 5-6 hours tops.
When sitting in the can, browsing through PULSE feeds (rss reader) you might drop 10 percent over the matter of 15 minutes of browsing. sad but true. I have 0001 hardware with MIUI 5.27, SavegedZen 2.2.1 and ViperBoy's undervolt +50 (any further undervolting is unstable for me).

Best battery life compared to any Sense ROM or CM ROM I've used.

anytime u use less applications at one time u save battery.
thats why sense drains batteries.
and people with a thousand widgets also have bad battery life.

Yes, I keep data turned off most of the time and use wifi. I also use Tiamat Sbc and lower voltage mod and I easily get a days use out of my evo.

you ever notice any lagging with the lower voltage?
-
06-02-2011, 07:23 PM #10Depends on how much you lower it. I did the -50 and got force closes and reboots. I heard the voltage mod effects everyone's phone differently so try it out and if it lags or FCs then flash the voltage reset and try lowering it a little less like 25 instead of 50 which is what I'm trying next

so I have been trying different kernels lately to try and improve overall feel, I think that the kernels I have been trying (tiamat 4.0.4, tiamat 3.7.8) are draining battery more than what comes packaged with MIUI. About how long are people giving their phones to "settle in" using a new kernel? I have heard a couple of days, is that accurate? Anyone else experiencing increased battery drain with these kernels? Maybe I am just using my phone more now that I have such a sweet rom on it (shout out to the devs).

There's a good point here. I think people "explore" more in MIUI, so it might seem battery life is less, but it's really them just using their phones more.
I, personally don't see much of a difference between this and other ROMs, but I don't try to extend my battery past a few hours, either. Typically, my phone is on a charger at my desk.
