[FIXED link in OP] Autocorrect not working properly 1.5.13
The autocorrect on 1.5.13 only draws words from my contacts. Is anyone else having this problem or knows of a fix for it?
Edit by stiffspliff: flash this http://goo.gl/6jq7i to get the themed blue keyboard back with autocorrectLast edited by naerok; 05-15-2011 at 03:18 PM.

Looks like the official MIUI ROMs got an update for this, so I imagine an update should be coming soon. Thanks Spliff!

Well, I rather have this little bug than the major ones of last week.

Go to the market and download the SwiftKey beta and give that a whirl. I bet that you end up loving this keyboard and buying it. The way it auto-predicts saves so much time, and faster than Swype IMO.

For all of you with autocorrect issues, in addition to the keyboards you can find in the market, you can definitely use one of these keyboards, all with working autocorrect.
Official EVO HTC_IME (Unthemed)
GingerBread 2.3 Default Keyboard
Themed HTC_IME_MOD from RLS3
You may have to push these to /system/app, fix permissions (rw-r--r--) and reboot a couple of times, but they each work. I just tested them all. I now have eight keyboards on my EVO! LOL. Time to go clean some off.
I grabbed these links from Myn's page. I use the third one, Myn's 2.2 keyboard, (beautiful!) anyway so I haven't gone without auto. Pick your favorite and you should be all set until stiff builds an update pack....nothing is perfect...nothing is complete...nothing lasts forever...

I know how to push a file to a selected location, but I do not know how to set the permissions. I have not purchased root explorer and would prefer not to, is there another way to set permission through adb or terminal?

^ You might be able to fix permissions in RomManger...not sure if that would help or not.

I was thinking that, i'll give it a whirl. If not i might jst splurge and buy Root Explorer. I have found myself needing it a lot lately and I know I won't be disappointed.

I bought it, but do I unzip the keyboards then move to system/app or just move it all over and set permissions?
I overwrote the stock keyboard by mistake and am stuck with Swiftkey, which I am not to fond of. Any help?

Yes, you can either unzip it right on your EVO or on your PC and move it over (Dropbox is immensely handy for that sort of thing if you don't have it already, get it.)
Once you have the apk unpacked:
- Longpress the keyboard apk
- Select Copy
- Back out to the main screen using the Parent Folder line at the top
- Once at the main screen scroll down to System
- Then App
- Mount R/O at the top left and hit Paste
- Accept overwrite
- Then longpress the keyboard apk
- Select Permissions
- Check all three circles in the first column (Read) and only the top circle in the middle column (Write)
- Hit OK and then reboot
You might have to reboot several times for it to stick, but it will stick.
You probably knew the method, but these posts are for everybody so hopefully the complete instructions will save someone else the hassle of asking.Last edited by justs; 05-14-2011 at 01:33 PM.

What is the name of the keyboard apk in miui? Is LatinIME.apk?

Most of us should have 1.5.6 saved somewhere. Extract the LATINIME.apk out it using Root Explorer. Then follow justs methods a few posts up. Worked perfectly after one reboot.
Now autocorrect is back.

I used the default Myn's 2.3 keyboard. Not themed, but I prefer the stock look anyway.
