Uninstall Swype now. This is what always works for me:
- Install Swype fresh again.
- After the keyboard installs, press Finish.
- Go directly to Settings -> System -> Language & Input Settings
- Change the current keyboard to Android Keyboard. NOTE: If you have opened the keyboard before this point, you have to uninstall Swype and start over or you'll get the license error.
- With the keyboard still set to Android Keyboard, open any text field (browser, search, SMS, whatever).
- Long press the text field.
- Choose Input Method.
- Change the keyboard to Swype.
- Test it. If it doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall and start over, but it should work fine.

Here are the instructions I followed to get Swype working on my DHD with Miui.
Unfortunately I can't remember where I got them from so am unable to give credit where it is due....if the author of this tip is reading this, sorry.
1. Uninstall both Swype and Swype Installer
2. Download installer
3. Run Swype Installer
4. Login using your Swype beta account
5. Choose the version of Swype you wish to download.
6. Install the downloaded Swype.
7. You should now be at a screen with 4 buttons, one of which says Generate License
8. Click Generate License
9. You will be at another screen with 3 buttons.
10. Click Select Android Keyboard and switch to the Android Keyboard
11. Your next step is to Disable Swype but DO NOT click Disable Swype since you currently can't do this in MIUI
12. Press Home button, open TI Backup, find Swype, back it up and then uninstall it from TI Backup
13. Long press Home and switch back to Swype Installer
14. This will cause it to go back to login.
15. Login to the installer again when it prompts for your credentials
16. Select the version of Swype you are already trying to install and actually download it again
17. After it downloads, DO NOT install it
18. Long press Home again and go back to TI Backup
19. Restore the Swype backup in TI Backup (App + Data), which will prompt you to install. Do the installation
20. Long press Home and go back to Swype Installer and cancel installation
21. This Will take you back to the screen saying it is trying to get a license but ignore it and go back to the home screen
22. Go to a text box such as a text message and click in the text box
23. Long press text field, click Input Method and select Android Keyboard*
24. Long press text field, click Input Method and select Swype*
This worked for me

Since the OP posted in the EVO forum for help follow Endless instructions; I've used them on my EVO and can confirmed it works fine. Of course, I have found the new TouchPal Beta pretty darn good, but right now I cannot get away from Swiftkey X, even though I LOVE sliding/swyping on my keyboard! lol

There is an amazing thread about installing Swype on MIUI on the XDA Forums ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1007470
This is the method that I have used over 20x without ever having an issue, it works everytime
Before i found this thread i used to have to try to install it like 10x each time until it would finally take.. that was a total pain in the ass, but now i can install it within 2 minutes everytime..
You're welcome.

Look, the proper way to fix this due to the exact experience I had and not everyones assumptions on how to, is not to uninstall and reinstall because that is not going to make the license magically appear. Just like most errors that deal with profiles and licenses, you have to install a sense rom again, use the swype installer and choose the swype you want to install (full or spanish/english) then the next step the installer does is generates license. After everything installed completely, use titanium backup to backup your swype and data. That backs up your license along with swype, no need to backup the installer. Once you load your Miui rom again, restore with titanium along with the data and everything will work just fine.
And to the guy about "why the beta" well because the beta is always the latest one that is going to be released not like the one you find that is always an older version than the beta itself

08-22-2011, 04:36 PM #17For the record, my method only takes a minute or two as well. I don't personally believe in spreading warez for the sake of convenience. I'd rather install Swype the correct, legal way than as warez.
