    Official Gingerbread Update

Now that the Inc is FINALLY getting an official Gingerbread update, how soon will we see a lot of the bugs (cough 720p recording cough) get fixed in MIUI? I'm not a dev so I have no idea how long it takes to do that stuff, but would next week's release (8-26) be too early to expect this?

I could be wrong, but I don't think it'll make any difference. All of the Gingerbread Sense ROMs (which the Inc update will be) have had 720p recording all along. Apparently whatever they're doing doesn't work on an AOSP ROM, else CM and MIUI would have it by now.
    Phone: DINC (AMOLED)
    ROM: Latest MIUI
    Recovery: CWM 3.0.0.8
    Kernel: Chad's Incredikernel 2.6.38.8
    Radio: 5.02

Not so. The big hangup is the underlying media frameworks, specifically, HTC's implementation of the Stagefright framework. The AOSP framework doesn't support the DInc's hardware, which is why the HTC framework is needed. Lucky for us, since the HTC media framework is separate from the Sense frameworks, Sense is not required, and thus we WILL see 720p recording, and maybe even TV-out, now that the "official" GB update is here. The only hangup is source--the framework has to be compiled to work on AOSP, and merely having the OTA out there will not help--the devs need the source code.

Interesting. But if that's the case, why could the needed framework not have been pulled from, say, Synergy or Nils' ROMS or wherever before now? With proper credit of course.

Because the GB source for the Incredible hasn't even been released by htc yet. Devs need the source code to mod and compile. Not sure what those other ROMs are using, but I can tell you that it's not htc GB source specifically for the Incredible. Do those ROMs have 720p recording?

Yes, they all have 720p recording. They're pulled from different HTC phones, not the Inc of course, but hey.. if it works it works!
