Unhappy Microphone muted while on speaker

I have installed the newest 1.8.12 MIUI with its default kernel. Everything is fine and smooth, but I have this strange problem with the mic.

Using some 3rd party call app (Skype, Viber, Nimbuzz or Yahoo...), when I switch on the speaker during the call, the mic mutes immediately, and then switching on/off the speaker, muting on/off the mic doesn't do anything. I have to hang up the call, and on the next call, the mic works again (of course, with speaker off).

This issue doesn't occur with the system phone app. This issue doesn't occur also with the stock rom. I have been with MIUI 1.7.22, then 1.8.5, now 1.8.12, but this problem remains. Upgrade the kernel to Tiamat kernel 1.1.10 doesn't help.

Any of you have this problem also?

I have enabled the option "3rd party access phone application monitoring", but this didn't help too.

I have searched around for the solution, and someone suggested with other MIUI roms, there is an option to enable call recording ... but I cannot find this setting on the miui.us rom

I have found something that might be related: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...7&postcount=13

It's simple to know the lens type: you look at the camera lens with sunny light and you can notice if the colour is red or green... the two models have got two specific drivers... latest MIUI doesn't work with green lens and other developers had to replace drivers and libraries taking from 1.5.13 version...
And other bugs come from the fact that MIUI devs utilized old Quarx CM7 Github versions... (speakerphone not working with microphone at the same time, FM radio not workin [instead in beta6 of CM7 by Quarx it works]... and so on)...

I have a similar problem with BT, when I disconnect my car's BT from my phone the mic on my phone doesn't work. I'm posted a logcat in the bug thread about it for the devs to review.

Is this on the road map to get fixed? After two update and messing around with a couple other ROMs I found out the hard way this morning that the mic is disabled when I'm using headphones on a call. What a bummer! Might be a deal killer for a ROM with which I'm otherwise in love! Someone give me some hope, please.

CM7 has been making progress with the audio libs for msm7x30 devices but it's far from complete. I've been flashing CM7 nightlies fairly regularly to test to see if these issues have been fixed and so far they have not. Unfortunately, fixing the audio libs in CM7 is not something I am capable of doing nor do I have the time to attempt it so we are currently at their mercy.

I personally only use bluetooth headphones and speakerphones and that works flawlessly on this device.. so the issue doesn't affect me as much as it does for you guys. I did get burned by this one time in an airport with a brand new pair of headphones.. I thought it was the headphones at first and then I realized it was the ROM

n_i_x - thanks for the reply and for all you've done to get this ROM working for us. So the issue is specific to our device (Inc2) or are there other users having the same issue? I ask because if it's just us then the timeline to get it fixed is potentially much longer than if there are several devices affected. Thanks.

Right now, it's currently the Inc 2, Inc S and HTC Thunderbolt having audio issues with the msm7x30 chipset.

slayher wrote up a nice blog post about the issues:

Thanks, it's been really frustrating releasing a weekly ROM with stuff like this not getting fixed and it's been hard to explain why. Hopefully people understand what is really involved here and why it is taking so long.

Fyi ... this issue has been fixed on CyanogenMod7 nightlies. I ran #85 recently and it worked great. When do you guys think it will be fixed on Miui?

to reconfirm: the mic does work while speaker is on using the system phone app (regular calls). 3-rd party calls apps like Tango, Skype or Viber doesn't work.

I tried also the latest stable cyanogenmod, which is 7.1.0 (far greater build number than 85), but the problem still exists.

I'm on the 12.2 release and still a no go for Tango. Anyone have a fix?

The problem also exists on the Droid Incredible.

Has there been a fix for this?
