MMS Picture quality

I haven't downloaded the latest 2 versions of MIUI because I have been trying out Pete's GPA16, but was wondering if there is still an issue with picture messaging quality. When I was previously using MIUI, all mms pictures I would receive would be compressed to a smaller file size than the original file (down to 1 or 2 kb) which led to the quality being sub-par. Was this an issue others were experiencing and if so, is there a fix or has this been fixed in recent versions?

So I have done some research and it seems the User Agent needs to be changed in the mms.apk to fix this problem...I guess. Does anyone know a fairly straightforward way to do this?
