Installation Process:

• Do a Backup of your Current Configuration!
  
• Boot Into Recovery
  
• Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache (If it's the first time you flash a MIUI.us ROM)
  
• Flash Zip from SDCARD
  
• Please note tha first boot may take somewhere between 3~5 minutes.
  
• Flash Gapps Zip separately to have the latest Google Apps.

Reporting Issues:

• If you'd like to report an issue or problem with the ROM please try to attach a logcat of the same for reference, otherwise it will be ignored since I wouldn't know where to look.

You neee to be on any Sammy firmware before flashing this MIUI... Otherwise the installer wont recognize the phone as an i9300...

Just flash either an official ICS or any other Sammy based ROM and you'll be good to go

I found that if I used any other CWMod version than Chain Fires I ran into this issue. If you follow the guide here:
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-pho...y-s3-50008588/
That will enable you to flash Miui's roms without getting that error.
Annoyingly its an older version of CWMod not the touch variant but it works!

Nice work Jimbo! I haven't tried your ROM on XDA (been on Omega all this while) and now I'm considering MIUI again. Just out of curiosity, why is there 2 versions of the MIUI rom on miui.us for i9300? i.e. the AOSP based, and non-AOSP based? Want to confirm before flashing anything.

Got MIUI working on my GS3 ATT (i747) and love it. It even recognized my StraightTalk mobile SIM and setup the right APN settings automatically. Amazing.

I've noticed two bugs:
1. Mute does not work on phone calls
2. Facebook app installs but does not load content when opened

Anyone have any workarounds to get these fixed?

I can't take screenshots D: and I cannot find the setting to muck about with it, if there is one. I can take a screenshot if I use the button in the notification bar, but holding down menu and power does not seem to work.

It's due to the ROMS pre-install script, that basically check to what device you are trying to install this ROM and prevents unecessary questions from idiots why doesn't a ROM for s3 work on some other device (e.g. HTC One X).
What your device idetentifes itself is based on the recovery you have installed, the one that identfies your phone as m0 is found here:

YES, read carefully:

1. Download your ROM (and make sure it's the right one)
2. Open the zip file with some archive handling application and move to /META-INF/com/google/android/
3. Once you're there, you will see a file updater-script
4. What is that you need to do is edit the file, some archive handling apps allow you to do that directly, some require you to extract this file somewhere and only then can you edit it.
Open the file via some text editor and look for these lines (usually at the top, since they are meant to be executed before anything else - PRE INSTALL)

5. Delete those lines and be aware of the concequences (refer to the unecesarry questions)
6. Flash and it should be working fine

When there is a new version avilable, go back to step 1.
P.S.:
- Nor I nor anyone else is responsible for the possible damge to your device when you are flashing it, it's your OWN!
- I highly disencourge changing anything else unless you know what are you doing.

Hi,

This is probably the smoothest MIUI experience ever! I have tried MIUI (ICS version) before and it did not satisfy me. It can't beat the smoothness and speed of stock Jelly Bean, so I switched back to that ugly Touchwiz running on stock Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 (international version) JB 4.1.1 ROM.

Here's two problems that I have encountered when testing Jimbo's MIUI ROM.

(1) It's the camera icon. It stays as stock JB icon like forever. Why it doesn't change when I change the theme? AOSP icons are ugly.

(2) Switching to front-facing camera is like a pain in the ass. It takes a little while (probably like 5-7 seconds) to load the front facing camera, then returning back to rear-facing camera is also taking a lot of time.

Anyway, this might be a dumb question. Why MIUI team does not develop its own camera app? I personally like Samsung GS3 stock camera. I have tried Cynogenmod before - loved the speed and performance but that camera... urghh... it just felt weird.

Keep developing this ROM!
