Thanks, hoppermi. I reverted back to TeamEOS this afternoon but, seeing your message, I think I'll give miui another shot. It's a really interesting interface. I just have a problem wrangling the dumb stuff (like the No service notification). I become impatient with things like that, to the point where it's the only thing I see on the screen.

The only other issue I might have is non-English text. I noticed some places where characters appeared in a language I am not familiar with. It made me wonder whether or not I would reach a critical impasse with regard to translation. Have you ever had a situation where you could not decipher non-English text in the ROM or its apps?

Lastly, a technical question. Is there a gapps file that accompanies miui.us, or is everything combined in MIUI.us_grouper_v4_2.9.29_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip?

No problem. Gapps should be included. But I always keep a jb gapps zip on my device, just in case something is missed or not working right.
This week we will had a ROM that will work at stock DPI of 213. Coupled with the modded launcher for extra grid size settings it is really nice phablet ui. I'm running a beta of it right now.

The rom linked on roms.miui.us is not my modded version. That version is just translated from China. The links in this thread are to my modded version. It included Toolbox already builtin, different lockscreen, and modified launcher.

I think you may have forgotten to include the package for the lockscreen pin. When trying to set a lock screen pin, it crashes to homescreen. I need to use lock screen pin, because I use full device encryption. That is the only thing preventing me from using miui on my nexus 7.
