Notifications not showing on lockscreen

When my phone screen wakes because of a new message it doesnt show a unread sms on the lockscreen. I have a lockscreen that shows unread sms and its not showing. Then when i unlock the phone if i lock it without checking it it shows but it shows the contact as Will F. (One of my contacts) but its not that person sending the message. Hope you understand what im trying to say. Im using a motorola triumph with build number MIUI-1.11.25-113011-2

You can try holding the lock button to show missing messages and calls. The lock button on the lock screen, not the hard button on the phone.
