Moving from MIUI Scotland to US
Hey guys,
MIUI scotland went down recently and he recommended MIUI.us as an alternative to his rom.
I downloaded the recent version for SGSII and just flashed it as it would be an update, but the whole phone got weired (system freezing completely upon starting) and I had to nandroid back to my backup.
Is this normal and is there a way to avoid a complete reset before installing your version?
Thanks
Podge

Re: Moving from MIUI Scotland to US
I too will be moving to MIUI.us from MIUI Scotland. It is always recommended to do a full wipe when changing ROMs, as different kernels and other minor differences can manifest as general instability and problems.
On another note, I think I'll be sticking with MIUI.us as it seems to be a fairly large and stable community. The one man bands like Galnet just aren't good for those of us who just want a working phone, without having to worry about the dev waking up one morning, having a crisis of existential meaning and deciding he'd prefer to be wandering the plains of Africa in sandals.

Re: Moving from MIUI Scotland to US
Usually you can simply flash the newer version, but going between different ports can sometimes cause some issues. Full wipe would really be the only suggestion. Try using the MIUI Backup app, it's actually really nice.

Re: Moving from MIUI Scotland to US
Thanks guys!
Just did a full wipe and it looks like it is stable now. Just have to restore everything now. Thanks for the tip with the MIUI backup app. Helps a lot! Seems it doesn't restore the individual settings of the apps, right?

If you whant as close as nandroid back, get this app form playstore, my backup root, it will back settings, home screen settings, wifi, contacts, mostly everything you will need, and also you can backup your apk and there corresponding data. iv used it to keep data, between different device socs and it works wonders.
