    MIUI problems Q/A

Since we can't post new threads lets use this for Q/A.
Edit: Can't even reply to my own threads! OPs please fix the permissions!

    Version: [2.7.6, 2.7.27]
-Adding new contacts crashes!! Can only add contacts by adding to contacts in gmail and syncing on the phone after.
-Portable WiFi hotspot does not turn on. Just hangs saying "Turning Wi-Fi on...".
-Intermittent crashes. Sometimes at night w/o any user involvement.
    -Facebook contacts don't sync.
-Occasionally the lock screen locks up, buttons don't work, have to hard reset by taking out the batt.

    Version: [2.6.8.1], [2.6.15]
I tried installing MIUI.us 2.6.8.1 and 2.6.15 via ROM Manager Premium (v5.0.0.7) on my canadian version of the Skyrocket (i727R) which is supposed to be identical hardware wise. Wiped dalvik cache and data prior to install. Each time installation went through fine but when the phone rebooted it went into a boot loop. Each time I had to restore my old ROM from backup to get it running again.
[EDIT] Fix: need to install recovery touch first then it works

Has anyone tried install MIUI on i727R?
    avoid installing through rom manager...

to my knowledge, you need to use CWM touch to install MIUIv4 properly. non touch CWM is a little weird about it and results in bad flashes a lot of the time.

as for the boot loop, the 2.6.15 is currently messed up, we're waiting for a fix.

as for 2.6.8.1, it flashed fine for me, besides the obvious bugs, its pretty stable and flashed fine.
you can odin to the CWM touch pretty easily if you need to switch

Installing CWM Touch via Odin and then installing MIUI through ROM Manager worked fine.
    Thanks for the tip!

I just had an issue with data when in a LTE zone. It's works great other than that, but as soon as it connects to LTE, the data stops working. Any fix for this issue?

Do you have the LTE apn programed in if not pick one of the APNs and change the APN to ltemobile.apn everything else is the same

If you are on non-touch ClockworkMod Recovery, install this zip (darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip, MD5 Sum: 18611e682660cce7bc37a83710b874ba, 1.17 MB) to fix the bootloop due to bad /cache format.

    EDIT2:
Noticed the LED buttons at the bottom stay on when the screen is On. Any fix?

I'm having a pretty substantial issue... Randomly, my sound defaults to the handset ear piece. All sound is played through the earpiece until I reboot the phone. Then maybe it'll last a few hours, then start playing all sounds through the earpiece again. It's not good because I'm missing notifications because they're basically inaudible.

I'm still having a few issues. Randomly my phone will reboot itself and get stuck at the miui boot animation and get very hot until I pull the battery out and boot it again. Also, themes downloaded from miui will not apply. The music app doesn't have lock screen cotrols anymore. I've also found no way to auto sort apps placed in folders.

    Re: MIUI problems Q/A

Hello good day to all, I'm from Venezuela. Thank you for generating this wonderfull ROM for this device. After following the steps above, the divice does not start, stuck in a loop on the boot screen where it appears the logo of miui.us. Any idea? This is my configuration:

    Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I727 Skyrocket
    CWM Touch 5.8.1.3
    darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip
    MIUI.us_skyrocket_v4.1_2.9.28_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_ 0xD34D.zip

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: MIUI problems Q/A

First poster here. I've never really had any trouble with ROMs until trying to load one for a friend. I recently tried to drop MIUI on his Skyrocket (i727). To no avail, the phone constantly reboots after about 10-15 seconds. I'll get into the start screen, can set the language and eventually along the setup steps the phone restarts.

I couldn't figure out where to find a working CWM Touch .tar file so I used one that is called "SkyrocketCWMrecovery.tar" that I found online. It seems to work just fine as it can load other ROMs (i.e., AOKP, CM10) with no problem.

I've used the following steps to install MIUI:
    1. Wipe data/factory reset
    2. Wipe cache
    3. Wipe delvik cache
    4. Install darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip
    5. Install MIUI ROM (MIUI.us_skyrocket_v4_2.6.8.1_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_ 0xD34D)

Any ideas why the phone constantly reboots after 10-15 seconds of being in the OS is happening?

Side note: I read that I didn't have to root the GS2 Skyrocket. I didn't. I flashed CWM and installed CM10 and then AOKP with no problems. I think by installing them I have rooted, but not sure. Could this be a reason why MIUI isn't working for me?

    Re: MIUI problems Q/A

Boot looping with the latest release can be solved by first flashing a previous release then making a nandroid backup. Flash the latest then restore the boot.img in nandroid.

My question: Using a wired headset the call volume is simply way too loud even when on the lowest setting. Have not tried a different modem because I get some trouble with LTE data connections using different modems. Current modem is UCLF6 on Miui 9.28
