English How-to for flashing US build to this phone?
Hi, I just purchased on of these during a trip to Beijing. It's working great on the standard Gingerbread build, but I would like to flash the ICS build and am having a hard time finding much info in english on how to flash the upgrade, and if I can flash the US build directly, rather than starting with the Chinese.
Specifically, can the stock recovery tool that comes on the phone flash from SD card? If so, which image should I use? It seems to look only for update.zip
If not, can I flash with ADB/fastboot tools from my mac or do I need to use the MIUI flash tool in windows? ..and what image/zip?
Or, is there a CWM recovery image that works on this phone? ROM Manager doesn't have it in the list when I try the flash CWM option. Afraid to try one of the others.
Any links to good English write-ups would be much appreciated. I've been running translate on all the pages on MIUI.com and the best I could find was a page that explains using the MIUI flash tool in windows and has DL links to the original Chinese roms. here: http://www.miui.com/a-103.html

Re: English How-to for flashing US build to this phone?
Update, seems the content of the 4.0 dev thread was being "interrupted" in transit given my current location and took 10 minutes to finally load. I changed the file to update.zip as noted in the thread. Still interested in knowing if there is a CWM image or if I can flash via fastboot. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Not sure what your asking exactly but here's something that may help
If its your first time flashing, you need to root and instal a custom recovery img (like TWRP or clockwork). Then you download the miui rom somewhere in your SdCard directory. Then you boot into your recovery mode and flash/sideload update.zip. Hope I helped!

Re: Not sure what your asking exactly but here's something that may help
Well, that is usually the process for all other phones but NOT xiaomi mi-one. You dont have to root & neither do you need a custom recovery img, because this awesome phone comes pre-rooted and you just have to enable root via a toggle & the stock recovery is capable of flashing the updates.
But, since you ll have to move from GB to ICS (latest update), you need to Update System Partitions (this option is under Recovery->advanced). After you update partitions, you ll usually loose all your data. Now anyway, do a wipe of cache & all data and then install your new update.zip. Reboot & rejoice.
Again, for Xiaomi Mi-One, you dont need a custom recovery & special root method at all.
BTW, this miui.us forum is not so friendly with Mi-One rom development i guess. You can see better information for use HERE
I hope it is useful for you as well. Unless this forum for Mi-One develops a little more, it is waste of time to follow this the threads over here. There is more wrong information and misleading suggestions

Re: Not sure what your asking exactly but here's something that may help
Thanks for replying. Nice to see someone understands this phone here. I was able to flash both the developer ICS build from miui.com forums (stock ICS basically) and also the MIUI v4 by updating the system partition as you suggested. I will also take your advice on the other forum. Looks like some good info there.
