MIUI ICS Installing & sd-ext for applications how?
hi,
i have some issue with understanding sd-ext thing and using it.
i try to explain what i did about my HD2 & what i need.
1. i checked xda all topics about sd-ext thing and i formatted my sd-card then made 2 partitions & both of em Fat32 formatted. 1 of em 6gb the other remained 1.4gb or 1.6gb
2. when i tried to mount sd-ext from recovery it said nothing means not found the partition.
3. i thought after i install MIUI ICS that i picked from http://miui-hd2.blogspot.com/ it will see the sd partition auto detect but it didn't.
4. the reason i need sd-ext for applications on ICS i need more memory & need more application.
5. after that i tried to format & mount the sd card with the recovery from the advanced menu. i picked 1024 size & 0 swap size and formatted.
6. mounting sd-ext from recovery is possible but after i installed link2sd application from market it gives and error that your OS maybe not support fat need to format fat32 or something. that means recovert formatted Fat not Fat32.
7. so i jumped the MAGLDR menu cleared MBR on SD Card because i wanted to make full format on sd-card. if you don't do this your sd-card will remain 1gb less because of the sd-ext.
8. after that i recovered my old Gingerbread MIUI and using at the moment.
information about the device
1. have 7gb sd card
2. using MIUI Gingerbread 2.4.13
3. got recovery 5.0.2.6 from raw loading
4. MAGLDR 13
so here is my story.
what i need to know for clean install, i need step by step explain what i do if i want to install MIUI 2.6.8 with sd-ext option, auto mount & other tweaks.
thanks for your any help

Re: MIUI ICS Installing & sd-ext for applications how?
I have stopped adding A2SD scripts by default. you will need to to add A2SD scripts yourself. check out the XDA thread for the ROM few members have posted scripts and steps to install rom with A2SD.

Re: MIUI ICS Installing & sd-ext for applications how?
well first of all i have to say i really thank you all people and their effort still doing something for HD2
big thank you.
may i ask what is the reason you stopped adding A2SD script by default?
for the people who wants to use A2SD i found really easy way to do it with a clean install i really like to share without remove even SD.
first. ( i used DAF Recovery 250mb partition tool with raw recovery rom for booting recovery from your device )
1. download mini tool partition wizard tool and install on your computer. http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
2. reboot your device & go in to the recovery mode
3. there is mounts and storage section there go in that section
4. there is last selection mount with usb use it
5. plug your device to the computer
6. open partition wizard you will see your sd-card on the list
7. right click on it select delete after that do the right click again and select create.
8. you will have drag size selector for your partition size.
9. decide your main size for your sd-card with it means after your selection remained size will be your ext2 partition.
10. while doing this for your main you must select primary & fat32 choices.
11. on the same sd-card area you will see unallocated part for that select logical & ext2 coices.
12. then click to apply & let it format.
13. after process done you will see you sd-card still original size on the hard disk list with the wizard tool interface but it will not.
14. if you check your sd-card size in windows you will see your sd-card size less from original means you did right.
15. copy your rom files then reboot.
16. install your rom & add your google account then install link2sd application from market.
17. after that point open your link2sd application and select ext2 in the menu. ( program will ask root permission for use link2sd ) give root permission.
18. you will need reboot when asked, do it. after you open your device open link2sd again select internal memory listing type for see the programs in memory.
19. from that point all you need to do is simply select the application name and click to link to sd button.
20. a little tip will be small applications is ok keep in memory while installing all them in same time to default internal memory option. but i suggest when you want it to install google+, instagram or facebook means bigger sized applications i must say after install and linked2sd reboot your device then keep your application process. you need empty memory for sure till you complete all your needs & link to the sd-card.
my phone works perfectly performance at the moment.
i hope this guide will help you who will use MIUI ICS on their device with A2SD option.Last edited by artdj; 06-17-2012 at 03:50 PM.
