    Can / should I rom?

I have been rooted since forever. I have SBF'd before and not afraid of it. Currently I am running 2.3.4 (GB?) / .621, I sbf'd to get ota update. I am rooted and have clockwork / bootstrap installed. I have my nandroid and going to backup with titanium in a few min here.

    I am looking to drop in this rom - MIUI.us DefX - 2012.5.12 -

I like that it is still being supported and I have read good things on it. I just want to know that - I do a cache wipe / data wipe / advanced davilk (spelling?) wipe. Then install zip from sd card.

I also want to know that I have the right sbf file incase something goes awry .... I have 2.3.340 - or do I need to find 2.3.4 ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I just want to be sure the rom is compatible, I have the right backups and a way to get back if something happens.

After having a taste of the Rom life on my tablet - I wonder what all great things I have missed due to being afraid of problems ....

    Thanks ! Ben

i thought that the ota update to .621 only had very slim choices of roms to flash, if any. you will need the 602/605 sbf file for miui roms. the cache /data /dalvik wipe is right, and some tell you to also mount and format system, even though most of the roms do it automatically for you.

these should help answer any questions regarding the .621 rom

Re: Can / should I rom?

Brandon - thanks for the reply -

I am totally new to roms - so I have no idea about what roms "can" flash to .621 - From reading your links, which not sure if helped or made me more confused, I can't sbf to 602/605. Once you hit .621, that is the only sbf that will work.

Before I took the .621 update, I sbf'd / rooted / got voodoo keep root / then updated and got root back.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this - just tend to dabble here and there and never got around to playing with roms. So, I have no idea what I can and can't do. From the looks of it - I can get back if it bricks. I will reread allot of them posts again and see if anything clicks.

yes, and as far as i can see from the links, the only real option to flash would be the milestone .604, until they figure out how to workaround it.

Thanks for your replies Brandon, I did flash the .604 milestone from the link you supplied and flashed miui. Everything went super smooth and really liking the phone again now, just wish it was 4g...... thanks again for your replies and guidance
