MIUI v4 Porting Forum Details

Porting MIUI v4 is a different beast than working with gingerbread builds and a lot of problems can arise when you are working on porting a new device. There are some problems that are common among all builds and some that may end up being device specific. I hope that the information that will end up in this forum will cover a wide range of porting problems and tips and will help out those of you that would like to work on porting v4 to another device. As more devices end up getting ICS working on them, the opportunity for porting MIUI v4 opens up. I'd like to start offering some tutorials for porting v4 based on my own experiences, as well as other devs to chime in with their tips. Information for this is sparse and not always easy to come by (at least not in a central location). By organizing this information into a central location, I hope more people can find it useful and increase the number of devices that MIUI v4 runs on.


What this forum is for:
Posting of information that is relative to porting v4 to other devices. This includes useful tips, tricks and even lengthier tutorials.

What this forum is not for:
This is not a forum for requesting v4 be ported to a specific device. This forum is not for offering to port v4 to a specific device. For that you can contact myself or other MIUI.us developers. This forum is not for requesting features or to report problems with v4 ports.


There will be a Q&A section for those of you porting to ask questions and for others to provide answers. If you find the answer to be helpful, please give thanks to the person who contributes the answer. The same goes for various tutorials that will be posted here. If you find them useful, then click "Thanks". Just don't clutter the forums with simple "thanks" replies as that just ends up adding extra replies that people should not need to go through.
