SystemUI theming bug
Anyone able to theme the systemUI with this weeks release?
I was able to apply my theme last week and the icons I had changed in the statusbar worked, but this week when I apply the same theme, the statusbar icons don't change anymore.
I even checked if the names of the files had changed this week but they haven't

This is a bug in the new release. I have the same issue. Just have to wait for next release and hope they patched it.

If you download a theme .mtz that has signal and battery etc. Open it with 7 zip or winrar on a PC. Copy the system.ui file to your android device sdcard. Once its on your sdcard open root explorer and copy the system.ui file to Data/System/Theme and replace existing one. Once that is done. Reboot your phone and your status icons will change
took me a while to figure it out l

Re: SystemUI theming bug
Okay...I'm having a related problem. On Gingerbread build 2.3.5, Dinc.
So, I understand that the UIVersion in the Desciption.xml is supposed to be "2", but when it IS "2", then my Theme Manager can't recognise the .mtz file at all. Doesn't exist as far as it's concerned. And when it's "1", I get the "old Format" message and whole sections (including the status bar) doesn't change. The other big one that refuses to change is Framework-res.
Any other suggestions?

Re: SystemUI theming bug
UIVersion=2 is for v4 (ICS). If you're dealing with GB themes, you want to keep it at 1. Old format messages are because you're not properly packaging it up. Rather than folders, you should have zip files with no extension. ie instead of folder named "com.android.mms" you have a zip file, "com.android.mms.zip" and you remove the .zip from it. All should be like this except preview, boots, fonts, and wallpaper folders.

Re: SystemUI theming bug
Hey Blind, thanks for a response... I THOUGHT that the 1 and 2 were for the two differing versions, but elsewhere I was told no. I won't listen to them anymore :-)
As for the "old format" issues and not applying....I wasn't as clear as I should have been. Everything is packaged exactly as it should be. Zipped up, extension removed except previews, fonts and wallpaper. This has been the format since last summer if I'm not mistaken.. Like earlier posts, my personal themes worked fine prior to one of the later GB builds, now these issues. Since my phone doesn't like the ICS build, I might revert back to an earlier version.
Another question.. Why is this "bug" only affecting themes that I made or existing themes I made small changes to (such as adding additional icons, and zipping up as previously mentioned), but not anything downloaded?
Finally.. Previously mentioned solutions, such as directly copying the framework and systemui files to the data / system / theme and rebooting.... Only about half of the elements change. Usually the half that won't change just using theme manager. So I get half my theme this method, the other half with theme manager, but can't get them at the same time. I'm about to pull the few remaining hairs out!
Ugh... Remind me why I do this?Last edited by GLange65; 06-05-2012 at 03:15 PM.
