I know torch doesn't work... but the flash also doesn't work for me when I use the camera. Has anyone noticed this as well?

Same here. I figure it's the same code for each to access the hardware level. Hopefully when one is fixed, they'll both be fixed.

Hrm... camera flash used to work. Not working for me either though. I'll look into it. Unfortunately, I don't think fixing this will fix the torch though. The problem with the torch is some code within the torch apk. I just haven't had time to figure out what part of the code is causing the problem yet.

It's to bad I noticed it just now. We're going to NYC for the week and I was going to use my phone camera to take pictures. I probably won't need the flash but I'm sure I will at some point.

Ok, my mistake, flash IS working for me. But not torch. Just tried a different torch app and it works fine.

On the same topic, the default camera app is buggy (keeps force closing). Camera Zoom FX is my go-to app for now.

I'm traveling and have no 3G. When I went to dial *228 I get Verizons network programming instead of USCC. I'm not sure what to do. I'm afraid 3G is not going to work for the duration of my trip.

Also I used the battery calibration part of the toolbox and when I rebooted my phone I got stuck in recovery. I had to revert to EH09 stock and restart all over to get out of it.

Flash a radio modem via odin and check the 'clear the EFS' box(I believe that's what it is, not near my computer) then start the phone up and call *228. Should get your data speeds up to 3g par. This worked for me when I was just getting 2g speeds. I forget which radio I used, let me know if you want a link, I could get you one when I'm home.

Yeah, I'm not sure where to get a radio modem. I'm familiar with Odin and I've only ever flashed a full ROM with it, and a tar file for recovery. If you can assist with that I would greatly appreciate it. I have wifi at the hotel and not going anywhere until tomorrow... if I can do this tonight before heading out to the city then it would really rock! My wife's phone doesn't work either, it has the same rom as me, latest version. But my daughters phone is a stock LG Apex and it gets 3g without a problem... same as my HTC Flyer.

Really tried finding the EH09 Radio tar md5 file for odin but I can't locate it. Nothing but broken Megaupload links.

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

I was cautioned a while back to only do a PRL update (*228) while in my home area. They seemed to think I'd be stuck on whatever network I was on when I did the update but, who knows if they were right or wrong... I was never charged for being on another network though. I'm sure you've checked but, data roaming is enabled, isn't it? Mine never works without enabling it when I am oustide of my home area. (I have a nationwide plan so I don't have to worry about roaming anyway and I keep it enabled all the time.)

Coincidentally I'm currently stuck in recovery. I didn't realize that the bug about when the battery is completely drained and the phone shuts off still exists in these ROMs... I had the same bug when I ran 2.3 but, was hoping it was fixed by now. :'(

Anyway, long story short... battery died, phone shut off and battery won't charge (stays at the round loading type symbol when you first plug it in and then shuts off). I finally got into recovery mode by unplugging and replugging the phone. I thought if I could get into recovery I'd be saved but, now I can't get out of recovery and the phone still won't charge! Side note: The phone shut off due to no juice but, when I got into recovery, it showed 39%... why is that?!

I've tried removing the sd card like I did once before to get out of the recovery loop but, that apparently is a no-go in this situation... I'm gonna look for a thread I remember reading a while back for getting out of the recovery loop before I give up and wipe it all.

    EDit:

Giving up... tried a command through adb that worked last time I had this issue and it was a no-go also. Tried flashing that latest update over this one thinking maybe it would reinstall the recovery and but, that did work either so I then tried flashing an older CWM recovery. This caused the phone to endlessly boot loop to the unfinished update installer. Luckily I have a backup that is only a week old. Oh well...

In the future though, I found this:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1694984

I'm assuming it will work for the Mesmerize and maybe this ROM... couldn't hurt to try as a last resort I don't guess.

    Edit 2:

The aokp zip in the link above still boot loops. The cwm4 zip works to break the boot loop but, the recovery is useless because it's an older version. It would be nice if someone could update it with the touch version and then I can just keep the zip on my SD card and not have to worry about being stuck in recovery!

the previous link was for the individual stock EH09 bin files (including the modem). if you want the entire stock EH09 zip file, try this:

Thanks... I downloaded the file but I'm going to have to pickup a USB cable today before I can try it since I forgot it at home. I used one earlier yesterday cause i borrowed my sisters cable, and don't have it now.

I got out of the recovery by flashing MIUI 1.9, then flashing teamhacksung's build2, then flashing the latest MIUI. But then I did a nandroid recover and got stuck in recovery again. The next time around I forgot to clear cache before booting into teamhacksung's build 2 and was stuck with a boot loop and no way to get into recovery. I ended up having to odin back to EH09, flash recovery, then go back to team hacksung build 2, then to MIUI latest.

It was a pain in the ass to say the least and now I am stuck with having to rebuild everything. I'm a little bummed that titanium does let me recover from backups but all my customizations don't stay and I have to go back through all the settings individually with ringtones and custom notifications for gmail and such. Not failing to mention that sometimes recovering + data sometimes causes apps to force close. Just doesn't feel like a clean way to recover apps.

Also... it appears that my phone is not charging anymore. I have a dock that charges an extra battery, so I've been swapping batteries.

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

I spent all night redoing everything after flashing from EH09 and recovering all my apps and placing everything where it belongs and after realizing that my battery doesn't charge I rebooted into recovery and wiped battery stats and now I am stuck in recovery again. Nothing I do gets it out and my battery is draining. I can't charge my phone, I can't turn it off and I can't even get into MIUI now.

I'm going to buy a cable tonight and go back to stock for the moment. My phone is completely unusable, even after redoing everything, 3G is not working here in New York and although I might be able to possibly fix it with the method from the post above, I couldn't try it because I don't have a USB cable (only a wall charger). So glad I am on vacation since I rely on notifications from Gmail for my work... atleast I don't really need my phone, but I will need it on Friday when I get back home.

That is in line with the instructions I found here, you're just using MIUI instead:

    http://rootzwiki.com/topic/24391-how...very-bootloop/

I've been trying all day to re-create the 'cwm4-repack.zip' I linked earlier to work with this recovery. I thought I could simply replace the 'recovery.bin' file inside the zip with the one from the MIUI zip but, that did not work. I then tried replacing 'flash_image' and 'bml_over_mtd' in addition to that but, that did not work either. I would like to have a way out without the use of a computer.

I also tried creating a ODIN compatible tar containing the 'recovery.bin' file from MIUI but, that didn't work either. While ODIN accepts the tar and flashes the 'recovery.bin' just fine, the phone endlessly bootloops at the Samsung logo so there must be more to it than just rewriting 'recovery.bin' to break the cycle (though, my inspection of the script in the cwm4 zip leads me to believe it does just that; simply rewrites the recovery). Having a flashable recovery tar would be a luxury for when I am around a computer though.

The reason why I am even bothering to post what I've tried here is because I am wondering if Weblexa would be kinda enough to make those two files since I obviously don't have enough knowledge to do it myself.

My phone is now charging by the way. Even after going back to stock yours is not?

    EDIT:

Do you ODIN DI14 and then EH09 or do you simply start with EH09? If not, it might be worthwhile to try flashing DI14 first as it conains the partitioning information to restore the phone fully to stock. These are my steps when I mess something up:

    1. ODIN DI14 with partitioning checked (Be sure to include the pit file!) and let it boot fully. (May not have signal and won't poweroff but, that's fine. Just pull the battery after it boots.)

    2. ODIN EH09 and let it fully boot. Then poweroff. (Should have a signal this time and power off properly.)

    3. ODIN whatever recovery you use. I use CWM4 fixed for CM7.

    4. Boot to recovery and flash THS Build 2 and then MIUI after clearing cache and letting THS boot.

I've found that going completely back to stock in this way works the best.

I let the battery on my phone completely die this morning so I could test this. Here's what I found:

Plugging in the phone when the battery is completely drained and the phone doesn't appear to charge. I let the phone sit on the charger for roughly 10 minutes, then tried turning it on while plugged in. The phone wouldn't boot. I unplugged the phone, tried booting it up and it booted to a strange screen with red text (Can't remember what it said, but some sort of boot error.). I pulled the battery, put it back in, and press the power button. The phone booted normally.

After successfully booting, I let the phone fully die on its own again, plugged it in to charge. Let it sit on the charger for an hour. It wouldn't turn on while on the charger. I unplugged it and turned it on. Again, booted to the same screen as before. Pulled the battery, put it back in, and press the power button. It booted up like normal, and had a charge of 73%.

So, my conclusion is that even though the phone doesn't appear to be charging, it really is. Something with the ROM is preventing the phone from booting while plugged into the charger, but after it is unplugged, it will boot. Hope this is helpful.
