    Need something asap YouTube isn't working. Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

    Lol... It just force closes.

    Is the eri.xml difference from phone to phone simply the carrier name or does it contain other specific contents? I looked for root tools but honestly editing the eri.xml and placing it in /data is to easy.

    I have a file, eri.txt with contents:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <EriFile VersionNumber="1357" NumberOfEriEntries="19" EriFileType="1">
    <CallPromptId Id="0" CallPromptText="CallPromptId0" />
    <CallPromptId Id="1" CallPromptText="CallPromptId1" />
    <CallPromptId Id="2" CallPromptText="CallPromptId2" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="0" IconIndex="0" IconMode="0" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="1" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="2" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="64" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="65" IconIndex="65" IconMode="0" EriText="Network Extender" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="66" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="67" IconIndex="67" IconMode="0" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="68" IconIndex="68" IconMode="0" EriText="Roaming" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="69" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="70" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Roaming" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="71" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="72" IconIndex="72" IconMode="0" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="73" IconIndex="73" IconMode="0" EriText="Roaming" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="74" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Extended Network" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="75" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Roaming" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="76" IconIndex="76" IconMode="0" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="77" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Alain's Cell" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="78" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Network Extender" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    <EriInfo RoamingIndicator="79" IconIndex="2" IconMode="1" EriText="Network Extender" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0" />
    </EriFile>
    In it... then I rename it to eri.xml and place it in /data folder. I got the contents from a different thread (posted it in one of my replies). All I did was edit the fields that say "Alain's Cell". The rest I have no idea if it's specific to Mesmerize or Fascinate... does it look right?

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    Found out what causes MIUI 1.12.9 to cascade force closes on everything. Apparently the /datadata folder is getting full and out of space. Found a couple of threads that explain the situation better and some attempts to fix it but... my wife decided to go with MIUIv4 so I'm going to install that for her right now and she can manage apps better there instead.

    Also, an idea on the Youtube not working Weblexa? I just clean installed on my wife's mesmerize and youtube does not work. Force closes when trying to play a video.

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    I decided to give the update a shot and have been happily running it since Sunday. This version of the ROM seems to be quite stable. I haven't ran into any system processes force closing. Everything works for me as far as apps go (even YouTube). This could be due to the fact that I installed all the Google Apps through Google Play. (I don't remember exactly what I did but, I ended up with only Google Play and then installed the Google apps one by one as I too was having issues with the flashable zip.) My first try at flashing the ROM though, I had tons of force closes. I simply flashed back to stock a couple of times and it finally resolved itself (just in time too cause I was ready to give up). SuperUser was missing but, I quickly found it on the market.

    Based off my previous list, here is a list of what I noticed is fixed/working properly:

    Haven't seen any misspellings aside from the previously mentioned 'USSC'
    Messaging app shows correct time format (12hr clock)
    GPS not only gets a lock but, is also very fast, even while inside a building (Very excited this is working!!!)
    MMS works while using wifi (Another plus!)
    "LED color settings do not work and I don't think the device actually supports anything but white anyway" - I cannot locate these options again thus fixed
    Apps like facebook and Opera seem to see a network connection more reliably than before

    Here is a list of the problems that still exist (atleast for me):

    App "compatibility mode" option for when black/dark text is on a dark background
    Themes reboot to recovery
    Voice to text does not work when using wifi (I just had the thought that this could be due to my firewall/caching web proxy; have not tried it at other locations with wifi)
    Messaging app does not split large text messages
    Sorting of folders - I read that the sorting of folders was removed in ICS, though I wish someone would add it back
    Themes - only noticeable changes when a theme is applied are icons, font, and wallpaper

    Again, just for clarification, these are known problems for this ROM and still exist:

    Built in wifi tethering (I do not use this myself and therefore never test it as I prefer the app)
    Buggy signal bar
    Torch

    New problems (most likely not related to the ROM iteself but, just in case):

    "Android WiFi Tether 3.1-beta12" still works for tehtering but, will sometimes soft-boot the phone after disabling it.
    Words with Friends will try to force close (almost every time) when displaying the video advertisements. I can select "wait" and it will move on within a few seconds.

    Others:

    I have not been able to test if I have phantom back button issues in low signal areas as I haven't been out of town. (I go out of town every Sunday and will test it then.) The phone no longer overheats while charging. I'm beginning to think that maybe I just had a bad flash last time but, I do not know.

    Overall, IMHO this is a very good, stable release for an everyday ROM. Many thanks, great job and much appreciated! Am also glad to see you are still developing the ROM (I thought you might have abandoned it).

    EDIT:

    One final note: When using the built in Backup app, I am only able to restore messages and contacts as if I try anything more (especially settings) I get force closes on various processes and have to reflash to fix it.

    If I could just get YouTube to work I would be so happy.

    Great feedback though netman. You notice so many more things. Really wish I had done the YouTube part the way you did.

    Thank you. You've probably already thought of this but, have you tried simply reinstalling the YouTube app? (ie uninstall through apps menu and then install in Google Play) When flashing from the zip, I'm not sure if the app becomes protected or not like system apps are.

    I would backup and reflash everything to see if I could find out what I did to get only Google Play but, I'm having problems with the recovery hanging when I try to do backups. I cant imagine why you'd want a ROM without Google Play though, so I kinda want to say it was already there but, then again, I do remember going through a flashable zip and seeing if I could find the apk for something. I'm just not sure if it was for Google Play or not. I've done too many things at this point to remember exactly what I did about a week ago.

    Thanks for the great feedback. I definately don't have any plans on abandoning this ROM anytime soon. Its a great ROM that's only going to get better with each release.

    Glad to hear that; it is indeed a great ROM.

    Have you had any problems with USB Debugging not working? I remember USB Debugging being a problem for a lot of MIUI ROMs.

    My problem is that ADB shows the device but, the device always appears offline. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to see it as an online device. Usually this wouldn't be a problem as I normally use ADB Wireless for connecting ADB but, I have a need to debug my app without any Internet connection...

    EDIT:

    Nevermind. I got it working. I had followed a tip to make sure Root Permissions was enabled in the Permission app but, I did not realize that I needed to reboot my phone for it to take effect. I had rebooted my computer, stopped and started adb server and everything else I could find to do but, the one thing I missed was rebooting the phone! Geez... ::slapsforehead::

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    I have tried removing YouTube manually... reinstalling it in many different ways. Tried removing with Titanium Backup and clearing data, fixing permissions and even reflashing the ROM and downloading it directly from the market but no matter what I do I cannot get it to work.

    Whats a logcat? And how can I generate some information so I can figure out what's wrong? Really miss my YouTube searches. I'll figure this out tonight so maybe I can find out what's wrong with the app.

    I am so terribly sorry for misleading you. Apparently I was wrong cause now when I try to play a video it crashes... I could have sworn I used YouTube since last Sunday cause I was watching a Mustang race a Semi with a friend and I thought it was after I had updated. Before I posted, I did go into the app but, I did not play a video and it didn't force close so I assumed it was working. That was very wrong of me to do. So sorry.

    The stack trace shows there is an exception causing the problem. The exception has to do with the screen width not being a positive value.

    Again so sorry; I feel terrible for misleading everyone.

    Lol... It's fine. At least I tried to get it working. Can't say I haven't tried it all!

    You know more about this stuff than I do... At least you were able to provide more information on the problem so hopefully it will get fixed.

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    While the information I gave earlier is correct in that it throws an exception due to an invalid screen width, by viewing the actual logcat in ddms (I was at church and couldn't earlier), I now know that the Media Server is crashing just before the YouTube app crashes and have turned my suspicions towards that service. I do not know how to fix it or I'd try to myself. I have attached a zip containing my logcat and everything that was produced in /data/anr/ in hopes that it will help to solve this problem.

    Attachment: youtube_logs.zip

    Also, my problem with the phantom back button in low signal areas still exists.

    EDIT:

    Oh and to answer your question about the logcat:

    You need to have the Android SDK installed and then use the ddms tool (found in the "tools" folder). Your device should show up on the left and the text scrolling by at the bottom (after selecting your device on the left) is the logcat. Logcat is simply the system logs.

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    2.5.4 Fixed the Youtube problem and I do see now it says "US Cellular" for the carrier name.

    Thanks for the great update I'll be donating again in the next couple of days. Really appreciate the hard work!

    Phantom back button was explained to me to be an interference problem with the phone physically. A while ago I was able to send my phone in because it got way out of hand and I received a new phone with a higher firmware. Although it was less frequent, the phantom back button in low signal areas was still an issue with the new firmware replacement phone. Instead of replacing it a second time, we opted to upgrade my wifes phone from a LG Apex to a Mesmerize and to give me the new phone. It had a much higher firmware revision number (since it was brand new and not a refurb replacement) and no issues with the back button in low signal areas.

    Meanwhile, my wife's phone still has the phantom back button issue... and when this happens, mine works fine. I am certain the back phantom back button issue is not present in my current phone.

    My phones firmware is 11.09 and my wife's is 11.04.

    I hope this helps... Even though my wife's firmware is 11.04 ( I was told anything above 10.XX would have the issue fixed), hers still has the problem. Since I travel a lot and am in Hospitals a lot, signal is an issue and I am 100% certain I would have noticed the phantom back button by now since I've had my phone for over 5 months now. I am really glad that the phantom back button is not an issue to me otherwise I would have to scrap this phone.

    Oh wow... I didn't know the version updated since the OP isn't updated yet. I was coming back to update with more information on the YouTube app but, guess that's not needed now. Do you know if you have to do a data wipe or can I just flash over this one?

    The MIUI download site isn't showing any images, maybe someone could fix that? I was still able to navigate to get the download though so no biggy.

    The phantom back button has always been there but, on MIUI Gingerbread it was almost non-existent for me. A developer had said that he thought it was because the antenna was so close to the buttons and causing interference but, I run into it most when the phone is getting hot from doing wifi tethering while in a low signal area and my hand is near the back button.

    Sorry about that. I forgot to update the OP when I uploaded the new build. No data wipe required for this release. Just wipe cache & dalvik and flash. Let me know how the new version works for you.

    +1 for the implemented section! I like.

    EDIT: You posted at the same time I did...

    I already took the plunge and just did a cache and dalvik wipe. It's working great so far! Great job!

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    I noticed that the BLN stays on after receiving an email notification while the phone is asleep. Is this by design or is it a bug? I am afraid I'll miss a notification and it will cause unnecessary battery drain as I often leave my phone in another room for hours at a time when I am at home or at my desk when at work.

    Also, I'm curious as to where to go to learn how to get started in porting for the Mesmerize. Care to share how you do it? Or at least point me in the right direction?

    Text messages aren't converting to SMS and SMS doesn't seem to be sending. Trying to send pictures seem to fail... Maybe because they aren't resizing but then again I was simply trying to send a text only SMS and it failed delivery three times in a row.

    Haven't heard anything new lately so just thought I would post my findings. Thanks!

    I ran into the MMS problem yesterday. Don't know what causes it.

    The SMS problem you describe has always been a problem for me but, I've always assumed it was the other end as it would send if I just wait a few seconds and retry. If you retry too fast, it seems to immediately fail (that part is most likely a bug). I run into this about once a week. It can be very annoying at times.

    Here's some weird behavior: I power the device down at night (with a mostly charged battery) and power it back on in the morning...and the battery is almost drained! The battery graph shows usage as if it's been on all night. Is there something going on with the Power Off?

    Re: [ROM] Official MIUI ICS

    I can't send any MMS. Is it because of the APN? Mine is pointing at Verizon even though I'm on US Cellular. Can't seem to change that either. I tried via the settings app and also tried a few different APN apps (after converting them to system apps using ROM Toolbox). Nothing seems to be able to change the APN.
