As far as themeing 9's I can't get the program on my computer to edit them correctly...I tried but maybe I had some wrong links but my computer is 32 bit....theming the keys on the board...I just placed the properly sized EPHD frame over the 9 image an it looked fine cause its not a stretch 9 some stretch to their proper size some just are the right size at least that's what I figured out...need proof look at the frame on the space bar, it looks stretched on the frame sides an lost its quality...this is because the 9 that draws the spacebar is the same size as the letter keys! Trust me when I learn or can do 9's I will clean this theme up big time! But I didn't do to bad with just png's an teaching myself how to use gimp like 2 months ago I guess? U can pm me anytime about the theme with help or suggestions bout things.

In other words, nothing "broke" in the last few weeks with theme manager that is preventing the xml edits from theming the keyboard. I installed a flashable zip of TM from a few months ago and applied my theme. Still have orange suggestions!!

I haven't flashed it yet. I'm not a big fan of the old school miui "denim blue" look. Is there any reason I couldn't take the regular stock latinIME.apk from a build about 3 or 4 weeks old when the process name was still com.android.inputmethod.latin (without "google"--- this is when it stopped completely theming) and push it to my system file overwriting the current build's apk?? That way if it doesn't work, I don't have to stare at the blue jean keyboard...

Even if that would work, I'm kind of reluctant to do it b/c I want to figure out WHY this isn't working. It would be one thing if NOTHING in the keyboard themed. The fact that all of the pngs DO theme yet the xml values DO NOT, makes no sense whatsoever and is posing more of a "challenge to find the solution" than anything. I just wish somebody that knows this rom inside and out could explain why a png that I put into the drawable folder will stick, but an xml value defined letter for letter as the lines in res/values/colors won't stick.

Something to note-- You know you truly have found the PERFECT rom when your biggest issue is the color of the suggested words when typing!!!

The only thing i know that you can do (for now) is put an older latinIME apk in the system instead of the new one and rename the folder to the old name thats what i was doing for like 4-5 builds and it worked no problem! if you need the apk i have it let me know....Hey i will hunt down the spacebar 9 and ship it to you to edit do you need the frame also?

I know that replacing the apk with the old one (blue or stock from a few builds ago) would solve the issue. In fact, the kid cassidy confimred that it worked. That's great and everything, but it doesn't help me understand WHY the apk won't take on the values defined in the xml. Can you see if any of the minds here at miui.us can explain why the process name changed a few weeks ago and why, since then, does the keyboard only partially theme? I PM'd stiffspliff about a week ago but I'm sure he is pretty busy and doesn't have time to respond to such a trivial question. Thanks man!

We just keep digging and we'll figure it out at some point, I'm sure. Hopefully if we get the new keyboard next week, it will work. I'm gonna go through every xml in the apk one more time to make sure I didn't overlook something.

Shot in the dark here, but could the APK that won't theme be set with compatibility mode turned on, then when you replace it, the subsequent APKs have compatibility mode turned off? I remember that when the XML was first themeable, it did not work with apps with compatibility mode turned on.

You mean just turn on/off compatibility mode (opposite whatever is now) and see if it works? As I went into my app manager, I was trying to figure out how to repay you if this worked. I decided I'd offer to take over your font thread and tell you that you would NEVER have to package up fonts again. Unfortunately, after toggling compatibility mode along with a quick reboot, I still have themed pngs, but orange text suggestions which means the xml still won't apply itself. Thanks anyway for chiming in. I'm so f--ing determined to fix this, if you told me to do a battery pull with my phone submerged in a bathtub full of jello, I'd go do it right now if I though it would fix this...

I'm having trouble with the lockscreen_button_pressed, my old theme has the blue version, but the newest MIUI (1.7.22) has the orange. Obviously the orange has got to go, but why isn't my current blue one themeing it? Based off the new theme template, it looks like it has changed, its still in the framework-res folder, and it's name the exact same too, so why won't it theme?

I'm using WL so I haven't noticed this but I will certainly check it out. This sounds just like the issue with the theme values xml not theming the keyboard. There has to be an explanation as to why these handful of things won't theme...

How are you guys opening mtz files? Before i was using 7z but now it wont work with the new formats, says something about unsupported file type.

You try renaming the extension to .zip?

I don't use 7z but it might have something to do with the .zip(s) inside the .mtz, as they have no extension.
