2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
I have a Problem after installing the 2.3.16 build.
I was on 1.12.9 and couldn't download 2.3.16 on my phone. So I downloaded it on my computer and copied the zip file to my root folder.
I booted into recovery and ran the install from there and now my phone won't boot up.
It just goes to the MIUI boot screen and the flag/logo light up. It never leaves that screen.
I used to see my Kernel before it got to the MIUI boot screen, but now I don't.
I cannot even boot into recovery now.
Anyone know what's going on?

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
How? I can't get into recovery mode? Do I need to use ODIN to unbrick my phone? Really don't wanna go back to factory default.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
Unfortunately, yeah, you'll want to use Odin to go back to stock, then flash recovery. Then, you'll want to download Teamhacksung's CM9 Build 2 before flashing MIUI ICS. This may be where you went wrong the first time. You can't go directly from Gingerbread MIUI to ICS MIUI without first flashing CM9 Build 2. Sorry for the trouble.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
I didn't even check this forum before I tried and then saw that. Didn't know 2.3.16 was ICS until then.
Thanks for the help.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
Why do we need to use Build 2 instead of the later builds? I'm on GB MIUI at the moment and tried to download build 2, but the Multiupload site is down. Does anyone have a current download link for build 2? Also, would I have to install CM7 before I could downgrade back to MIUI GB versions?

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
EDIT: Sorry, I always tell people to use Build 2 because I know for sure it works. I've never used the other builds before and I didn't realize Build 2 wasn't available anymore. The latest build (Build 7) should work also.
As for going back to GB MIUI, you can just flash the GB MIUI ROM without installing CM7. It takes 2 flashes for it to stick though. The first flash results in a boot loop. You'll need to pull the battery, boot to recovery using the 3 button method, then flash again, and it should boot.Last edited by weblexa; 03-20-2012 at 03:33 PM.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
I've tried this method in attempts to go to MIUI 2.3.16, 2.3.23, and 2.3.30 but can't seem to get it to work. I either get stuck at the boot screen like gt03ks or CWM aborts the flash. I also then tried to go back to 1.12.9 where I had been but couldn't find the Rick_S ROM I had originally flashed. I found one that the person claimed was Rick's but after flashing it my GPS didn't work. Now I'm back at 1.11.25 and all seems to be working again. I'd like to upgrade to an ICS build but just can't seem to get it to work.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
When you get stuck at the boot screen, how long do you let it sit there? Sometimes in can take roughly 10 minutes to boot.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
I experienced the same as you.
Try this for your fix.
I then again wiped all data, casche, Dalvik and flashed 2.4.6.
Just signed in on google and getting everything running. I'll report back this weekend with any bugs...
Bugs:
1) Can't figure how to deactivate blocking of download over network in settings/preferences...having to download apps over wifi...any thoughts?Last edited by Sport; 04-13-2012 at 06:32 AM.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
How are you guys booting into recovery? Using the 3-button method doesn't work on ICS and will cause this issue. To boot into recovery on any ICS ROM version before 2.4.6, you'll need to open the Updater app, click the Menu button, then click Reboot to Recovery. This will allow you to boot into recovery to flash zip files without this issue.

I usually long-press the power button then select Reboot then Recovery from menus.

Re: 2.3.16 Problem - Phone Won't Boot Up
I just flashed 2.4.6 and got it to boot just fine! I am experiencing this same issue though. I've checked settings in both Google Play and Monitor and can't see anything that would be preventing downloading via the data connection.
I'm also having an issue with themes. I can't seem to apply full themes. It won't let me change the Status Bar, SMS, or Dialer. I'm using the same theme files I was when running 1.11.16 so I know they are working fine, it's just that MIUI won't accept themes for those particular pieces.
I haven't tested GPS yet but have heard there could be issues. I'll post again later with an update.
