Thinking of purchasing a Showcase
I'm considering purchasing a Samsung Showcase (SCH-i500), I'm using nTelos, which is a smaller regional carrier.
I had a few questions about this device and was curious if anyone could help me out.
I'm currently using a HTC Desire, running MIUI and my experience on that device had been great! It has run very stable with snappy performance, with very few bugs. The Desire is actually a great phone, except for the extremely low internal storage.
How does the Showcase seem to run with MIUI? Any major bugs to be aware of? Difficulties flashing the ROM? It appears that the Showcase is running a slightly newer version of MIUI than my Desire is.
All of my previous phones have been HTC, is the Showcase (and Samsung in general) difficult to ROOT?
Lastly, how has the support for the Showcase been? I know the Showcase has been around for a while now, and I'm wondering if it will soon be forgotten about.
I guess my biggest concern is getting an aging phone that might be difficult to root, run MIUI poorly and won't see continuing development and updates.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Thinking of purchasing a Showcase
Rooting is fairly easy. Look here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10728-gui...back-to-stock/ and focus on section 6. However most of the ROMS I have found are all built for Cspire for the most part and thus I've had flaky data and flaky MMS. I usually end up just flashing back to my original Nandroid and running stock 2.3.5 but rooted for the other functionality. Sad really...especially because Ntelos doesn't seem to ever refresh their phone options.
I haven't run MIUI on this phone yet though. Just came back to this forum today to see how development was going.
Let me know how it goes for you if you flash it!
