Alternate kernel:
You should be able to use any AOSP (read: not Sense) ICS kernel.
Currently the ROM comes with LordModUE 9.6.1 BFS because that's what is packaged in his ROM I use as my base, and it works well for me. However, everyone's phone is a little different, if you're having issues with lag or battery drain, you can also try the CFS version of this kernel. lordmodUEv9.6.1-ICS-CFS.zip
Remember to always wipe dalvik-cache when flashing a kernel.
"Do I need/can I use inspiremod?"
If you use it with other ROMs, use it with this one. It works fine without it for me, I've never suffered from the tinny sound effect, but it is compatible with this ROM.
Having trouble with GPS/Location?
This may help:
First, check in Settings > Location services and make sure Google's location service is turned on.
Download GPS Status & Toolbox from the Play Store
Preferably for the first lock, you should be outside with a clear view of the sky.
Turn GPS on, open GPS Status.
Hit Menu, Tools, Manage A-GPS state
Hit Reset
Go back to Manage A-GPS state menu, hit Download
You should get a lock of 6-7+ satellites within a minute or two. Future locks should be within 30 seconds or so.
Having another issue?
Before posting here with issues, please make sure you:

How to logcat:
Probably the easiest way to provide a logcat, is with aLogcat.
Open aLogcat after whatever incident you would like to report,
Hit Menu > Save
Files save to /sdcard/alogcat/
How to boot into recovery:
- Open Updater app, hit Menu > Reboot to Recovery
- Issue `adb reboot recovery` from a computer or `su -c "reboot recovery"` from within Terminal Emulator app
- Use ROM Manager, 4Ext Recovery Updater / Control, QuickBoot or GooManager
- Power phone off, turn back on while holding volume down, select "Recovery" from hboot menu.

Download link works. http://goo.gl/8nCtf - Copy/paste if you're on mobile, the links are case-sensitive and the app doesn't keep the capitals. This won't work on a Sensation though..
Edit:
UGH! Sorry guys, some things you don't notice right away. I mixed some stuff up and the microphone was borked.. I'm fixing it now and re-uploading, give it like 15min and redownload.
All is good! Sorry for the mix up!!Last edited by blind; 02-17-2012 at 08:43 PM.

Installing now

Sounds great!
A couple questions...
1. In your list of instructions at the top, you indicate installing the zip and *then* wipe cache/dalvik... I thought wiping the caches was supposed to come first. Could you please clarify?
2. I just bought a new 16gb class 10 sd card for my Inspire. Considering the phone and the software, what would be the recommended partition and swap sizes? Still 512-1gb and 0, respectively?
3. Backing up before a factory reset: Backup via MIUI's backup (or Titanium), nand backup and then copy files from sd card to the computer? Hoping I didn't miss any steps there.

Eh, cache can be wiped at any time before booting to the system. And in fact, flashing a ROM forces a rebuild of dalvik cache so wiping that isn't even really 100% necessary. Tbh, I copied this post from somewhere and didn't bother messing with the instructions.
Yeah, I wouldn't really change anything.
Backing up, I just do a Titanium backup. I'm not too keen on backing up call logs/text messages, etc so I just make sure my apps are backed up. I don't even really nandroid too often. but feel free to take as many backup steps as you'd like, it's always nice to have a copy of your backups on your computer as well.hTC Inspire 4G

Very nice. More responsive and faster than the old one.

The Monitor app is still Chinese, tho.Last edited by Helveticä♥; 02-19-2012 at 05:07 PM.

Re: [ROM][2/24/2012] MIUI.us 4.0.3.2.2.24 ICS
I get Netd repeating if i copy libandroid_runtime.so from miui rom to base. If i don't copy and keep the original the phone boots to bootanimation and bootloops.
