Keep in mind that this is an early release so chances are good that there are going to be a few bugs here and there. All I ask is that you keep the discussion related to the development of this ROM. I'd like to here about issues you find while using it. If you don't like it, that's fine but please do not post about that. There will be other threads for that sort of discussion.
Thanks!

The recovery you mentioned: Is this stock recovery or something else?
Either way, this is fantastic. My brother-in-law was hoping for an ICS ROM for his Kindle Fire. Thanks for all the hard work.

Coming form the other MIUI ROM, this is great. A little jittery, and the running app previews cause the launcher to crash. Beyond smoothing it out, is there a way to add a volume toggle to the notification tray, like there is for brightness.
Thanks!

After first time installation get USB Mass Storage Toggle error
I just installed MIUI 4 Alpha to my Kindle Fire. It was able to boot successfully but when I unlock the tablet from the screen saver, I get a message that says "USB Mass Storage Toggle" with a Droid icon with the words "UMS is currently disabled". When I tap the Droid icon, a message is displayed "Failure! You cannot enable UMS without a USB connection". I have a USB cable correctly plugged in to my computer and the tablet device is correctly reported in Windows Device Manager. I have also tried removing the USB cable from the tablet and computer and restarting the tablet, but I get the same error.
I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed. I have done some google searches but have not been able to find much information regarding this.

I have had the same problem when I connected to my pc suing USB however I can see the device on my pc and do what I needed to do. I ejected the KF at the pc when I was done and everything worked OK for me. Over at XDA they have an app you can d/l to do the same thing as the stock rom had for USB connection and I plan to get it and give it a try. It's designed to work with ICS roms they say.

I have the same problem. I Installed ALPHA2 ROM. I can see my kindle fire in Windows Device Manager But canNOT access the it. At the same time, my Kindle shows the same error message when I tab the Droid icon "Failure! You cannot enable UMS without a USB connection" ....
Another issue... Several programs reboot my Kindle Fire. Linkedin, YouTube App (My YT Viewer).. Is it normal with this ROM?

BBC0 - thanks for the advice. I solved the problem after many different attempts and now things are working well.
I believe the problem was initially caused because I had the USB cable connected between the tablet and my computer when I did the initial installation. In other words, the correct general steps are:
* Place ROM zip file in your SD card - you need the USB cable connected to do this
* Disconnect USB cable
* Boot into recovery
* Create a backup
* Fatory reset device
* Install zip from SD card
* Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache
* Reboot and enjoy!
In the end, I solved the problem by completely repeating the installation using the above steps and things worked. I still got the USB disconnect message when I booted but at least this time I was able to see the normal navigation icons at the bottom of the screen.

Software Issues
I've used the 4.0.3.2.2.3 release for about a day and found a few minor issues that I wanted to report.
* I downloaded several themes and applied them successfully. However, the new themes do not seem to affect the overall appearance in any way. In otherwords, the new theme seems to be ignored.
* I downloaded the Chromium Browser for Android. It starts successfully and appears to run, but the screen is always blank.
* The Kindle Netflix app did not show video correctly. Sound played correctly - but no video.
Many other apps that I used on the stock Kindle Fire are working correctly on this release.

Amazing ?
I hope that you will pardon me, but. Has anyone read the very first post concerning what does, and what does not work on this rom. If that post had been read FIRST, then the majority on the following posts, would not have been placed.
I know that I am an old fart. However I have been involved in computers since before most of your parents were born, and some things never change. An expression that was coined early on, and used mostly by people that were irritated by exchanges from other's that had not done their homework was "RTFM", which translate's to "READ THE F*****G MANUAL".
While I have never used this acronym, as I considered it rather rude, it is apprapo.
This is a great rom, but it is not yet a daily driver: The first post clearly states that teathering via usb, does not work, nor does video acceleration. So you cannot hook it up to your computer via the usb port, and graphics that require video acceleration are not going to work.
Google "WiFi File Explorer" or "WiFi File Explorer Pro" they are available from both the Android Market Place and the Kindle Store. With either of these app you will be able to tether to your computer.
Have a great dayLast edited by 1lightpainter; 02-12-2012 at 01:34 PM.

Thanks for this great response. I had no idea that USB tethering was what I was trying to do. I need to learn some basics!

In all fairness, USB Tethering generally refers to a phone's ability to route the 3G/4G data to a device that is connected by USB.
Technically, this is busted by default because the Fire doesn't have 3G anyways ^.^
What the post probably should say is the USB Mass Storage mode is currently not supported.
Anyways, it's still a lot of fun to have ICS on this little device. It's very fast!
