I assume it has to do with contact photos, as these are the only images that really warrant high definition. We will find out soon. hopefully.

Themes are not applying on the latest miui release.

Themes not working for me either. I updated over 2.6.29, linaro build. It says they applied fine, but the default one applies instead. Also, the default one is named in Chinese. I'll try a fresh install tonight and report back. Let me know if there is anything else I can try. Thanks.

EDIT: Tried full wipe and install of 2.7.6 for both regular and linaro builds. Same issue for each. Tried another phone too. 2.6.29 is still working with themes.

some themes were broken earlier, and some specific parts of other themes were broken (e.g. status bar, battery icons, etc) and now, themes are completely broken. I can change my font using other apps, e.g. FontInstaller, and the toolbox has no issue changing stuff around (e.g. center clock, etc). It seems to me this started around the same time the toolbox started to be included in the builds. IDK, that's just my opinion. I flashed older builds, and fool-proof successful theming seemingly stopped around march or april of this year. I like MIUI and I like the visual aspect of it, and I strongly detest GB/ICS visually. They are faster, etc, but they are so flipping ugly. Just an observation, and some $.02.

I found this in the "Bugs Thread for Galaxy Nexus CDMA and GSM" thread:

I fixed the themes issue, using root explorer, I went to data/system long press on theme. Permissions and made sure all read write permissions were enabled. Now themes apply!

It worked for me!

Since linaro builds seem to be discontinued, does anyone know if upgrading from 2.7.6 linaro to 2.7.13 standard is stable or should I do a full wipe and install? Thanks again to the devs for the awesome work in bringing us this great ROM!

I believe Magi said to full wipe if coming from the reg port to the linaro port so I would assume vice versa would also be the safe bet.

had to switch to PA for the time being... (ParanoidAndroid) ever since 2.7.13 my phone has been crashing, lagging and FC'ing almost everywhere i go. i tried flashing it over after a fresh wipe and even going backwards (2.7.20 ---> 2.7.13) to do a fresh wipe and go back to 2.7.20, but i'm still getting these issues.

I am not sure about your FC's on 2.7.20. I have not had a single FC What app is causing the FC? Are you restoring data or something after your fresh wipe?

After switching from linaro to the standard builds. I have used 2.7.13, 2.7.20, and now 2.7.27 without a single force close. All I've done is wipe cache and dalvik cache between standard builds. Thanks for the great work!

Also, I noticed that it was "optimizing" apps on the first startup of the most recent release. Anyone know what it is doing?

If it is "optimizing apps" it is just loading all apps into cache. It should have done that for all builds if you wiped cache (not just dalvik). This is standard ICS behavior.
