How do I stop wifi turning on to "help" find my gps location?

Since I've moved to MIUI I randomly get a message that wifi is being turned on to help my find my gps location. The major issue is that by trying to turn on wifi is slows down my gps lock my 10-15 seconds! It's really frustrating. Actually, it's such a problem that games I'm playing kick me off when this happens (specifically Pocket Legends).

This problem happens even if I have wifi turned off. Is there anything I can do to force my system to never use wifi to help my gps?

I had the exact same problem and it was annoying to the point of switching to another rom for a while. I came back on 1.6.17 and haven't had the problem since.

The only suggestion that I can make is to do a full wipe for this Fridays release or 1.6.24 if you've been flashing over for quite a while.

I had been away from MIUI for a while, so I did a full wipe when coming to 1.6.17 but I'll do another full wipe on the 1.6.24 version and see if that does the trick.

WiFi helps the accuracy not lock speed that is why is happens. So it is a trade off. Also the best app to fix lock times is GPS Status. Down install open go to settings tools and choose compass calibrate. Your locks will be faster. This calibrates the magnetic compass in your phone.

Menu, settings, personal tab, my location, turn off "automatically assisted GPS" to stop wifi from connecting when activating GPS . I haven't really had an issue with the latest 7.1 release so I'm leaving it on for now. But the previous releases it would leave my wifi on for ever!
