    Battery Life

    Long story short:

Flashed MIUI 1.6.24 and absolutely love it....expect for one thing. Battery life is quite awful, BARELY 9 hours with moderate use.

In batter stats, Android OS is always around 30% if not higher.

    What to do?

You can't backup ur kernel but you can do nandroid backup and restore later if you don't like the new kernel

Try the MIUI Energy Rom found in the miui.us vibrant forums. It has overclock and undervolt options that may allow you to get extended battery life if you slow things down a little bit.

Does anybody have suggestions for the Nexus One? Kernel or SetCPU settings/profiles?

Be careful with other kernels. Check with MIUI first.

I agree....battery life sux but the trade-off for a stable "Beta" ROM is what I like. I'm sure they'll end up fixing it somehow.

    Android OS bug, :

(thanks to ceriko ! and his awesome guide for DarkyROM 10.1): http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...pers&txt=guide

If your battery drains very fast and your battery stats mentions Android OS above 10%, often between 40 and 60%, sometimes more, this is the best to do as far as I know:

    - Remove the 2/3 system files as per the beginning part of this guideguide about batterie issues.
    - Install WatchDog: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...hDog%3C%2Fb%3E and open (I set it to "moderate", then I close it, that's all), this app will warn you whenever an app or a process miss-behaves by draining the battery excessively. It will not fix it but just flag it and you will see a notification.
    - Reboot usually stops the drain for a while until it naturally comes back, so reboot whenever you see Android OS above 10% and rising or after you see WatchDog mentioning "Suspend" process using too much battery (the suspend process hanging is the Android OS bug).
    - Some apps trigger it, most common are Gameloft games (blame Samsung, not the games/apps). No need to use apps or games for this drain to happen, it also happens straight after boot once phone has been fully charged.

This bug can not be fixed by anyone but Samsung. Some never see it, some will experience it everyday no matters what they do... It's just annoying and unfair but that's the same on all Gingerbread releases by Samsung (JVK, JVB, JVO, JVH). Apparently even the SGS2 has this...

Recomended Kernel and the one that will be in the OC version of ENERGY-7 tomorrow.
    NEO-10 @1.6ghz: http://www.ponack.net/zachariasm/rev...pus_NEO_10.zip
(Do not use SET CPU with this kernel. Voltage app or pimp my cpu only!)
(If you dont want to "Overclock or Undervolt" then it will act as a stock kernel with a lot of tweeks. It defaults @1ghz so dont mess with cpu apps and your good)

The battery life on the vibrant is simply not going to be very good at this point since we don't have kernel source.

I also recommend the neo series kernel because of its features, but honestly there's little battery advantage either way. I've undervolted mine heavily and that helps it last longer when I'm not using it much.

I'm also using chainfire and putting it into night mode, salmon color, when I need to use the phone heavily and still have it last.

Hav you used cpuspy to see if any Apps are running rogue?

ReVaMpEd #7 and Stock MIUI seem to both have significantly better battery life on 1.7.15
