Inspire 4G users with no sound

I understand there have been other posts about no sound, however I would like to put the solution right in the top post of a new thread as well as flashing order.. This is what works for me and at least three of my friends with Inspires.

Download Tiamat 1.1.5 from http://tiamat-dev.com (I have nothing against LordMod kernels, I just haven't had luck with them & MIUI)

While in recovery, flashing your ROM, flash the ROM and then immediately after flash the kernel. If you use InspireMod (I don't - I don't have tinny sound and I find my volume is louder without it) flash it after the kernel, then boot up into the system. I have heard some reports of stability issues in the IRC when you let the ROM full load and then boot back and flash the kernel, but as I said this method works for me week after week, and it's smooth as butter.

If you have luck with the LordMod kernels, more power to you but as long as I'm on MIUI I'll stick to Tiamat.

    thanks!!

Followed blind's advice...this is the first time I have had luck with Tiamat and have not had a single random reboot or FC yet!!!

I cleared caches, flashed ROM and immediately flashed the kernel and rebooted. I didn't do Inspiremod this time.

Same here. Will we continue to have to install this after every update?

Ok, still zero issues. No spontaneous rebooting or massive FCs. My in-call audio was a little scratchy, so I went ahead and flashed Inspiremod. I do feel the audio is better having done that. Regardless, blind's method is what everyone should try first and then see how your audio is before flashing Inspiremod.

I've always had luck with TalonACE 1.1.3 BFS as my kernel. Currently using LordMod on my MIUI slot in boot manager.

Guys, let me ask you something. I've been getting sound on my Inspire with this method from sime time now, and every new update I do the same. Sound quality is perfect!
BUT, I noticed that the sound of my own recorded videos (or just voice using de Sound Recorded) it's completely messed up. Scratchy, a lot of noise, and ruined complete videos of mine. All of this using Tiamat kernel.

Does any of you have this same issue? I seem to have solved this now by following this steps:

    - Let MIUI install some new update
    - Flash Tiamat 1.1.5
    - Flash CM7-inspire-audiofix-r1
And then flashing this kernel ( http://tinyurl.com/blqaxeu taken from Android Revolution HD topic on XDA )

Tell me, it's just my phone or this happened to some of you guys?

    Thanks!

I also noticed the issue with Sound Recorder the other day. The audio was horrid! It sounded like a vinyl record that'd been played for 70 years--all scratches and hisses. I just tested a video right now. The sound is not bad. Very light static in that one. I've not used the CM7 audiofix..does this perform the same fix as InspireMod? As for flashing a second kernal, I would imagine that completely replaces Tiamat.

Curious to hear blind's take on this one. ^_^

    Tiamat vs. Talon kernel

I too have experienced the no-sound issue on the Inspire 4g. Following the examples in this thread, I found that Tiamat restores audio, but at very bad quality. Talon's kernel, OTOH, with this device, worked perfectly as far as sound, and also, the MIUI/Talon-BFS Combo is by far the fastest, smoothest ROM setup I have flashed yet. Boot time is astonishing, ~20 seconds from the switch between hardware (white bg with HTC logo) and kernel boot screens, and the arrival of the lockscreen. Running performance is similar.

FTW: Download MIUI 2.1.20, Talon-v1.1.3-MIUI-BFS, and inspiire-0.5 branding. Install MIUI from CWM, then kernel, then branding, make sure cache and data are wiped (factory reset.) First boot, as always, takes a while while the fresh rom settles in and writes appropriate things to /data. Subsequent boots are mind-blowing fast. Performance is smooth and fast even though I keep pretty aggressive power saving profiles in cpu tuner.

I too experienced this problem. First I had no sound with the stock kernel, then terrible audio quality with Tiamat. Talon's kernel not only solved the problem, but made for a noticable performance increase too.

    FTW: All from CWM:

Install MIUI 2.1.20 Do not reboot!
Install Talon-1.1.3-BFS-MIUI kernel. Do not reboot!
    Install Inspire-0.5 branding. Reboot.

Now we have perfect sound with DSP Manager support, and also the best overall performance (speed/battery) life of any rom I've flashed.

Currently working on a custom rom to manage this and the search engine problem.

I just installed the latest rom on a HTC Desire HD and I have the same sound problems. Will the above work on the Desire HD?

    By "Inspire-0.5 branding" you mean InspireMod-0.5.zip ?
