Video Tutorials [OTA Updater Video Added 8.25.11]

    Hey Everyone,

Here is my first video tutorial for you on how to flash the latest MIUI over the previous build with only wiping cache and dalvik cache.

    Hope you enjoy!

MIUI Hidden Features (aka Easter Eggs)

    Hey Everyone,

Here is a video for you on behalf of MIUI.us showing you how you will be able to update every Friday using the Updater app and making the process fast and smooth.

It will require a bit of work on your part if your recovery is either Team Win or Amon Ra, but it is simple and fast. I use Amon Ra so I just had to go into /sdcard/miui and create a folder called ota.config.amonra. So now I have /sdcard/miui/ota.config.amonra and I'm good to go. Making a folder is quick and easy and totally worth it.

Here is the video. Give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. If you see warrtack or n_i_x around here, or in the IRC room (#miui-us) give them a quick thanks!

Thanks. I wanted to make it less scary for folks to try out Amon Ra.

I just used the updater to go from 1.8.26 to 1.9.2. I am using Amon RA, so i followed the directions to create "ota.config.amonra" in the MIUI folder on my SD card.
The process was amazingly quick and simple. I thought i'd be in for a long download, but apparently the update simply contains changes, it couldn't have been a full update of the entire MIUI ROM.
It was almost *too fast, and too easy* .
I am worried because i didn't see any dalvik or cache wipes happening.
Is there reason to be concerned that this update method might result in a less stable build than doing a full wipe and a full reflash?

Thanks in advance for any inputs!!!

    R.A 2.3

Awesome video bud, I made the folder like mentioned above. But the rom still downloads to "Downloaded Rom " folder. Any suggestions?

Nope, the wipe commands stiff has added to the updater script so you are good to go!

That is the correct spot for it to download to, were you on the 1.8.26 build before so that you have the correct updater app. Then you just need to make sure you have the correct file made in the SD card like that is listed above.

    NOOB question

Jason, after watching your vid, I followed along, but flashed the miui zip with Quick Boot and everything went well, but for whatever reason it got stuck on the MIUI logo with the rotating earth. I let it ride for an hour. I ended up pulling the battery and hot booting to recovery and restoring a backup to get to my original phone rom. In your vid it was like 30 sec!! What am I doing wrong?

    Specs:
    HTC Evo 4G rooted
latest MIUI zip downloaded from miui.us site on 10-6-11
zip located in a folder called EVORoot on SD card.

Thanks for the help, I really want to get into this ROM.

    Jay-

I haven't seen any other posts about this, so I can only assume it's just me but my updates randomly stopped working a couple of weeks ago.

I don't get notifications anymore and it seems the updater has stopped working, and when I check for new updates it says "none found"

I used the OTA updater to upgrade to version 10.9.11, but it has since stopped allowing me to update OTA.

    Any thoughts?

Am I the only one with this problem?

The folder is still there where it should be, but no OTA updates. Is this something that's been abandoned for EVO, or is something wrong with my phone?
