Re: MIUI.us DefX - 2012.5.12 - HDMI Video Out, HijackedBootmenu, Wifi Tether, Compass
thanks guys. I did find it in the MIUI control panel. a very manual way of doing it but a way nonetheless. it's good for getting it exactly how you want it at least. i appreciate it!
I'm going to mess around with some third party cameras because the stock one isn't cutting it.
one more theming issue: jrummy's rom toolbox is not being successful at changing my bootup animation. not a major deal since this rom doesn't force reboot nearly as often as others but it would still be nice to change it. Thanks!

Yo, it seems I cannot connect to adhoc networks with a static IP (no DHCP). Even tho I set the IP and netmask, when I try to connect it hangs at "obtaining IP address"?

Re: MIUI.us DefX - 2012.5.12 - HDMI Video Out, HijackedBootmenu, Wifi Tether, Compass
I have had this happen to me on installation of some themes/lockscreens as well. Another easy solution if you've tried all the button combos and nothing works, is to take a magnet (the fridge is a good place to find one) and kind of swoosh it around the back of the phone, replicating a car dock. It will go into dock mode and you can just hit home to get out and back to your homescreen, then change your lockscreen.

Re: MIUI.us DefX - 2012.5.12 - HDMI Video Out, HijackedBootmenu, Wifi Tether, Compass
MIUI does not support gingerbread anymore (been a month or 2 ago that the announcement was made). They are currently only releasing updates to MIUI for ICS version. So Wiz is not getting any new versions to port due to his ROM being based on gingerbread.

Wiz is working on a few more things to add in, but it's big stuff so it takes time to figure it all out. MIUI v4 gets updated all the time because they are still working out all the bugs since its pretty new. There aren't really any bugs to work out or updates needed on this, everything works great.

A note from wizard.
Hey guys and gals, I know everybody is waiting patiently even though I essentially disappeared for 2 weeks, so I want to give an update.
I wasn't able to get any coding done on my vacation and I've had a ton of personal stuff hit as soon as I got back. I've had to focus on that this week instead of getting back into the swing of things and actually get some coding done (although I did just have an epiphany on how to fix a bug in bootmenu from before I left for vacation, lol). Unless a miracle happens, I doubt I'll have anything out before the end of the month. I promised I would, but it is seriously not looking like it will be possible at the moment, so I want to apologize for not following through on that.
As soon as I can get this personal stuff either squared away or at least a handle on it, I'll be back on the horse and it shouldn't take me long to get some updates out.
Thanks for understanding everybody!

Wiz has done so much for DXer's - he deserves time off and lots of credit. I've hung onto my phone for 6 months longer than I had planned just because of his ports. Even though I am running the ICS MIUI now, I keep a copy of his rom just in case.
All the announcements from Google this week has pretty much sealed the deal with me getting a new phone. JellyBean looks awesome. Hope MIUI and JB get together in the future.

i would use 4.0, but it seriously drains the battery, and few things still dont work.

I don't know what wiz is working on, but for me, the 2012.5.12 ROM is flawless (aside from the camera app showing a gray screen for a second or two after taking a picture).

Video and power problems - solved, for me
I recently posted that I had an issue with changing the cpu settings to the recommended, and had to revert due to sudden battery death. I had changed them because I was having trouble with hiccup-y, jerky video and also the phone was not getting a boost in battery life. Few people had the same problem as I did, so I felt the issue was likely my phone, my install, my apps or I screwed something up somewhere. I was averaging 5-6 hours per charge (phone in use most of the time at work) after reverting back to old settings, it sucked, but I love miui and wasn't willing to change. Fast forward a couple weeks and I got the dreaded "wet spot" on my screen, with barely any pressure. Did some googling, figured out it was likely the battery, and bought 2 new ones on Amazon for $5 each. I figured what the heck, the phone is almost 2 years old, right?
Holy crap. I got them yesterday, popped one in, charged it up and calibrated it. The calibration cycle gave me FIFTEEN HOURS, including several hours on the phone, about 2 hours playing Temple Run (trying unsuccessfully to kill the battery) and several other apps opened and closed. Then I took some videos and played around in the camera app for a while. Still unsuccessful at killing the battery, even though of late the camera app was causing severe battery drain. And guess what ... video problem is gone.
Recommend if you have an almost 2 year old phone that you replace your battery. I can not see the bulge in my battery that was causing the liquid display to pool, but it must be there because it's gone with the new battery. I did not buy the extended battery. 15 hours. Holy crap. Video again, yay! My phone is an absolute requirement for my job, and good battery life and good camera/video is a MUST, so this is a huge relief.
Wizard, you rock. This ROM is so good and so smooth, thank you!

That is awesome news, it's amazing what a new battery can do, being that this is considered an antique phone to some.

Re: MIUI.us DefX - 2012.5.12 - HDMI Video Out, HijackedBootmenu, Wifi Tether, Compass
Not having to replace this phone is thrilling to me, and the battery replacement makes me wonder just how long the battery has been going. I have not gotten such good battery life on my ROMs since the one called Liquid. None of my MIUI installs has done so well. I keep trying to run the battery down to get good screen shots of it, and then I invariably plug it in, out of habit. Everything I used to do on my phone caused battery drop rapidly, I could watch it drop when apps like facebook or the camera were open. I've actually seen my phone drop 30% having facebook open for more than 2 minutes. Since I update our company page from my phone, this was a huge problem, and my phone was on charger in the car between jobs daily. On average, I use my phone heavily about 14 hours a day. Yesterday I looked at it after 7 hours and it was at 68%. Shocking. It would have been dead on the old battery.

hey, i was wondering if there was any way to take the browser that comes on this rom (i love to have all my bookmarks from chrome on the homepage) and make it a zip so i can install it on the other roms that i play with? i wanna be able to switch between roms and keep the browser the same through all of them.

Just incase anyone has been looking or wanting the rootzwiki miui theme, here it is. Took awhile to finally get it, seems to have vanished from the web...

I love this ROM but I always keep jumping to other ROMS for one feature I just have a tough time without. That is swipe away notifications. Is it possible to get them ever or is it just impossible.
