    Question Updated version

    Hi,

I was just wondering if its possible to get nook roms out as much as the the other ones.. The one thats available is over a month old, compared to the weekly updates the other devices receive.

The answer is to be happy with what we have and be quiet - http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php...or-1-10-14-ROM

And what we have is fast and stable as hell, if set up properly.

Yes i agree with you, we should be happy...
But why are we getting so slow updates? We are 2 months back... No one is working on the Nook?

I would agree with this, until recently.

Pretty serious regression, with root cause analysis, summarized here:
    http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php...ll=1#post63144

This is symptomatic of a larger problem related to being behind and not having recent key dependencies included in the MIUI build.

Is there any way we can get higher priority for this platform... with commitment to keep this going?

    Justification for higher priority:
    (1) Barnes and Noble has aggressively sold millions of color nooks over the holiday season alone (in addition to the millions sold before). The Nook color can be commonly had for $119 or less refurbished. It is arguably the best bang for the buck for an Android tablet.
    (2) Nook often has the most viewers of any forum on MIUI (take a look right now). As I write this, only the HTC Droid Incredible has as many live viewers in the forums.
So it is a very popular platform, and increasingly so.

If Nook is being ignored, and phased out... no one agrees with me on any of the justifications above... instead of arguing... can anyone recommend a version of CM7 and theme that approximates MIUI? Instead of posting here... post that into a new thread maybe entitled "sunsetting support for Nook... migration alternatives."

Thanks Mark! Any way for others to help create new builds and/or test? E.g. pull down from version repository, add new libraries/subsystems, rebuild, test, file bugs, etc? Want to keep the momentum going for MIUI + Nook.

    Happy New Year,
    _Marc

I've been hacking around with a few different Android tablets for a couple of years now. I just purchased a refurb'd NC back after Thanksgiving and love it. I tried CM7(.1) for a few days, but the random screen unresponsiveness about drove me nuts. Then I discovered MIUI and tried it -- WOW -- screen response seemed to be 10 times better. But as you have noted, MIUI for NC is a bit behind with versions, and there are a few issues (Such as market FC) that need to be addressed. I actually tried CM7(.1) again a few days ago, and I'm already going back to MIUI just because of the screen response issues. I don't in any way blame "andmer" (to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude for getting MIUI working on NC) for this "version lag" -- but we simply need a "team" of people that know what the typical process is for creating a MIUI build from repository (and what typically needs changing from a specific hardware standpoint). I am a C++/C# developer (25+ years) with some Linux work sprinkled throughout the years. I don't have a TON of free time for hacking, but I'd certainly be willing to spend a few lunch hours here and there helping out.

(Rolling up sleeves) where do we start??

Thanks (in advance) for your work, Mark! And again -- if there's anything I can do to assist (on the NC side), please let me know...

I wish I could help with the coding, but though I dual-boot LINUX on my laptop and netbook, I don't write code. I can work from the command line if you tell me what to do, though. I have been running Android for a couple of years. First on my old HTC Touch, from the SDcard. I intend to run Miui from the SDcard on my Nook Color, which I received for Christmas. I did run Miui on my original Evo. I now have an Evo 3D. If you need help testing on the NC, I'm ready to help.

    Mark_Hoj:
Are these smali "tweaks" (from andmer) something you can post here? I am no smali expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been reading some of the dev docs, and think I could at least play around with making some changes and testing the results. Obviously, I need to know WHAT to change (or I could really get in trouble fast.....lol....).

    Thanks!
    Kevin T.
