How To Easily Root your Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777
This is a Re-post
I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF IT BRICKS YOUR PHONE.
What is needed:
1. Download kernel from codeworkx here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1285823
2. Download PaulyHoffman su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip:
http://paulyhoffman.com/public/flashable_root.html
3. Odin 1.82 (Search Forums)
4. Android drivers for your phone install using Kies.
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.co...1082_152_4.exe
Now we are going to flash the Kernel
1. Power off device.
2. Hold down both vol down+vol up and plug in usb cable
3. Hit volume up and accept warning
4. Open odin
5. Choose the kernel you just downloaded and load into PDA.
6. Click start and let it run completely and boot up.
7. Completely power down your phone.
8. Hold vol up and vol down button and then hold down power button as well until you see the boot screen then release all three buttons. It will take a few, but you will boot into Clockwork Mod, you will know your in CWM because there will be a black background with blue text.
(To navigate CWM Vol Up moves cursor up and Vol Down moves cursor down. Home button selects and back button goes to previous menu.)
9. Scroll down and select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choose zip from sdcard". Now go and select "su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip" then select "Yes - su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip". Now select back until your at the main menu select "reboot system now".
You are now rooted!
Alternate Root Method with Super One Click
*You need to have already flashed codeworkx kernel follow steps 1-7 from above*
Download Super One Click http://www.undergroundmod.com/?p=54
1. With phone booted make sure you have usb debugging checked and plug your phone back in.
2. Open Super One Click and click root.
**It will hang up at #6 of Super One Click when it does this unplug your phone go into settings uncheck and check usb debugging again then plug back in. At this point it will continue with the root. It will send a test to your phone and you may or may not have to click allow for Superuser.**
